We discuss the protective role of self-control, and why it is not a characteristic of God, but a vital gift He offers to us. We also dive into its Greek roots, exploring the true meaning of self-control as a dominion from within that proceeds outward, a vital tool in resisting temptation and keeping in step with the Spirit. Through biblical examples of impulsivity, specifically focusing on the lives of Saul, David, and Peter, we hear of the pitfalls of being driven by worldly desires and the subsequent need for self-control. Finally, we discuss how self-control can be cultivated through the Spirit. This message is a powerful reminder of the role of self-control in our spiritual growth and the vital importance of aligning our will with God's.
