Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. It’s just Thomas and Lukas this week, so we go long on our discussion of the best City Connect uniforms. We’re a big fan of the Mets’ iteration, ranking it in the top tier below only the Nats and the Padres. Big win for the team, and it seems MLB is getting better at this over time. On the draft front, Michael Massey continues to struggle, while Cam Caminiti bounces back in a big way for Thomas. On the hitting side, both Slade Caldwell and Kaelen Culpepper keep doing what they’ve been doing. We also discuss Keith Law’s draft rankings. Moving to the performance in the minors this week, the bats are still a little sleepy. Mark Vientos is destroying Triple-A again and deserves a trade to a team that can give him a shot. Jett Williams and Luisangel Acuña are still struggling but making strides in the right direction. The pitching, meanwhile, continues to be excellent, even if we’d like to see Blade Tidwell moved to a relief role sooner rather than later.
