From Complex To Queens, Episode 271: Mat Rudick is back baby

from Home Run Applesauce: A New York Mets podcast · host Home Run Applesauce

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. Mark Vientos just had a signature moment, so we discuss some other signature home runs from ahem marginal Mets 1B prospects of years past. For whatever reason, that Mike Jacobs debut home run still sticks in all of our memories, even 15 years on. For draft updates, Carson Benge is pulling away from the rest of the field in our eyes, especially after a five-homer week. The most recent BA mock draft has him going to the Mets at 19, a result we’d all be extremely pleased with. There was a long list of things to discuss in the system this week as well. The rotation picture is about to get more crowded with both David Peterson and Tylor Megill starting rehab assignments and Christian Scott continuing to dominate Triple-A. With Adrian Houser struggling and a long stretch without off days coming up, a six-man rotation complete with some new faces might make sense. We Ryan Clifford’s weird line in Brooklyn (get him to Binghamton please), Jonah Tong’s continued dominance in Single-A, the unfortunate Nate Lavender news, and, most importantly, Mat Rudick breaking out of his early season funk.
