From Complex To Queens, Episode 280: 2024 Draft Reactions, Day 1

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. The draft is finally here, with rounds 1 and 2 in the books. The Mets selected Oklahoma OF/RHP Carson Benge in the first and Duke LHP Jonathan Santucci in the second, meaning that we’ve once again managed to predict a first round pick (congratulations Ken). Our reactions are generally positive - the Mets didn’t do anything amazing, but there wasn’t really an opportunity to, and they generally avoid the (many) pitfalls of this year’s draft. We’ll be back each of the next two days with continued coverage for the remainder of the draft as well, so keep an eye out for that.
