From Conquest To Compromise // Judges 1:27–2:6

from CCCV Youth · host CCCV Youth

In this study, Josh goes through Judges 1:27–2:6. Josh touches on how Israel went from having trust and obedience in God to starting to compromise and disobey. Throughout chapter one of Judges, we see how each tribe had different faults in their battles, allowing the enemy to return, not fully driving the enemy out but instead letting them dwell in the land as slaves, and even being driven out by the Canaanites. These things happened because they did not have full trust in God. God had given them all that they needed to have a full victory, but they had compromised the promises of God for their own judgment, and because of that, God had told them, “I will not drive them out before you, but they shall be thorns in your side.” God will not do all the work for us when he already does the majority of the work. If we don’t put in the effort and do our part, we will never get anything done or get anywhere, and if we allow the enemy to get any type of hold, whether slight or drastic, it will continue to be a problem in our walks. In what areas of our lives are we allowing the enemy in? What victories have we traded for compromise?
