From Fear to Faith: The Call of Gideon & The Authority of the Son (Day 127)

How does God turn a "mighty man of valor" out of a man hiding in a winepress? Today in the Book of Judges, we see Israel oppressed by the Midianites, leading to the call of Gideon. We witness his hesitation, his request for signs, and the radical "downsizing" of his army as God prepares to show that the victory belongs to Him alone. In the Gospel of John, Jesus responds to the religious leaders who are persecuting Him for healing on the Sabbath. He doesn't back down; instead, He makes the stunning claim that He does exactly what He sees the Father doing, possessing the power to both judge and give life.Today’s Scripture:📖 Judges 6:1–7:8 – An angel of the Lord finds Gideon threshing wheat in a winepress to hide from the Midianites. Gideon destroys his father’s altar to Baal, tests God with a fleece of wool, and eventually gathers an army—which God promptly reduces from 32,000 men to just 300 to ensure Israel cannot boast in its own strength.📖 John 5:16–30 – Jesus defends His work on the Sabbath by explaining His unique relationship with God the Father. He declares that the Son can do nothing of His own accord but only what He sees the Father doing, asserting that whoever hears His word and believes has passed from death to life.📖 Psalm 57:7–11 – We conclude David's prayer with a soaring note of praise: "My heart is steadfast, O God... I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples."
