Have you ever caught yourself reflecting on a past event, only to realize how much your current life situation has changed? Not only that: in hindsight, you can now see how this experience has fundamentally altered the way you understand yourself and your life. If you find yourself nodding along, this episode's journey on resilience and reinvention might just resonate with you. Join me as I welcome back Jackie Velez for a conversation about navigating life-altering shifts and discovering true abundance through adversity. We tend to map out our lives with certain assumptions, believing we know how we'll face major challenges. We imagine ourselves responding with grace, logic, and strength. However, life rarely unfolds according to these plans. Reality often presents circumstances that are much more intricate and transformative than we could have predicted. These events can challenge the core of who we think we are and how we view the world. So, let me ask you this: can you truly picture yourself handling the aftermath of a completely unexpected event? An event that throws your routines into disarray and forces you to question everything you believed to be true about yourself? Can you imagine your relationships, values, and even your definition of what it means to be successful undergoing a fundamental shift after such a disruption? If the thought feels overwhelming, you're not alone. Life's unexpected turns are a universal experience, and the path to navigating them is rarely straightforward —the insights and lessons often unfold along the way. To truly bring this point home, in this week’s HDM episode, Jackie Velez is back on the podcast to share how her life took an unexpected turn following a significant car accident. In this convo, she shares her journey from scarcity to abundance unfolds through music, community, and raw vulnerability.Jackie Velez is a wellness and music practitioner blending music, movement, and neuroscience to guide people into aligned, intentional living. Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation. TomCattt Thomas Patton From the beginning music has prowled with accordion lessons at a young age, followed by sax, blues harp and more recently piano, vocals, song writing and recording. Thomas Patton (AKA TomCattt) credits his mother for his stage name "TomCattt” as she was big on nick names for those she held close to her heart. TomCattt's music is best described as easy listening and sometimes retro, yet with a contemporary mix and feel. Accompanied by the creative tracks of a number of gifted musicians, his first album Hiiyaaaaaaaaaaa inspires imagination and finds a way to impress with a unique vocal sound, compelling harmony and gripping melody. The lyrical content is in fact a living reflection of this artists emotional journey that followed leaving love, finding a new love only to lose love once again. Hiiyaaaaaaaaaaa was released on June 1st, 2013 and all are invited to Soundcloud, Bandcamp, ReverbNation and Cdbaby where "A Question" is free download and to enjoy TomCattt's website tomcattt.com.
