FUSED - Dusty Futon Musicians Podcast
from Dusty Futon
Chilean-born Metal guitarist Xavier Perez formed FUSED in 2004 and hasn't looked back. Nearly 20 musicians, two cities, and 15 years later he's got the formula...and it's San Diego! Seriously, he's gone through more musicians than Slipknot to find the current lineup, which Xavier says is the best...and he hopes to be THE lineup for FUSED. He started this group up in Olympia after having difficulties finding a band he gelled with. This was during the post-grunge days of Seattle...and with 2 years of Jazz apprenticeship and over a year of music theory he wasn't finding what he wanted. Until a friend told him to start his own... After meeting Jason, the two began forming the basis of what is FUSED while up in Seattle. Coming down to San Diego gave him (and FUSED) some time to reevaluate the direction, and he slowly started gathering a new drummer in Miguel Rosales in 2015, Paul Miranda on bass in 2016, and Andrew Gedker's smokin' guitar in 2017. None of the band members were born in the same country...giving them a multi-cultural background that fills out their sound. We chat with Xavier about his trials and his achievements while going over his brand-new EP featuring these guys, "The Heartless Sway."
