Het gaat niet goed met de grutto in Nederland. Waar we hebben afgesproken dat er 85.000 broedparen zouden moeten zijn om de soort te behouden, zijn er door de achteruitgang van de natuur nog maar 25.000 over. Deze met uitsterven bedreigde vogel schreeuwt om bescherming, maar krijgt dit niet door het bureaucratische beleid van de overheid.Voor journalist Sander Turnhout is natuurbescherming een roeping. Deze week publiceerde hij een artikel over de grutto in De Groene Amsterdammer. Daarnaast schrijft hij elke twee weken een column over een bedreigde diersoort voor de website.
