Un 04 de julio de 1921 fallecía la pianista y compositora ítalo-francesa Gabrielle Ferrari. Nacida bajo el nombre de Gabrielle Colombari en Francia en septiembre de 1851, estudió por primera vez en los conservatorios de Nápoles y Milán antes de regresar a su París natal tras casarse con Francesco Ferrari, corresponsal italiano de Le Figaro. Mientras estuvo en París, estudió con Théodore Dubois, H. Ketten, y François Leborne y Charles Gounod. Ferrari, como muchos compositores, fue una reconocida concertista. Se concentró en la ópera y completó cinco grandes obras. Su primer éxito fue Le dernier amour en 1895, seguido de Le Cobzar, que generó un gran debate entre los pro y antifeministas de la época. Su trabajo utilizó modismos y melodías populares.
