Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro: #674
from Dreamvisions 7 Radio & TV Network · host Dreamvisions 7 Radio Network
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #674 is another hour of dynamic visionary acoustic improvised music and songs by Mariam Massaro brought to you by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, acoustic guitar, ukulele, Native flute, double flute, mandolin and Celtic harp, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in mid-June of 2026, today’s show begins with the rich, bucolic “The Forest Beyond”, a gorgeous, groovy forest song with a compelling vocal from Mariam over imaginative, focused work from the band and “Open My Heart” is a popular ceremonial song that the band presents with an elegant, deeply felt performance to match Mariam’s engaged, beautifully present vocal. “Let’s Do The Best We Can” is fashioned around Mariam’s chiming, energetic and rhythmically tight ukulele with pulsing Native drum and dancing, parrying, ever-inventing piano supporting another inspired vocal. Floating through different reimaginings and soaring, extended Native flute inventions, the piece fascinates and compels with its imagination and creative restlessness. “Ni Dantu’s Wisdom” is a mystical tale told by Mariam with great expression and framed with celestial percussion, throbbing Native drum, somber, expressive acoustic guitar, and minimalist, supportive piano. “You Are All That Is” is something of a Part Two to “Ni Dantu’s Wisdom” featuring gorgeous, soaring vocals and a rich, deeply emotional improvised piano accompaniment. Mariam uncases her evocative, energy-elevating mandolin for the chiming, mystical “Restore Her Beauty”, a wonderfully exotic-sounding air that culminates in an expansive, touching dialogue between Mariam’s evocative vocal and expressive, soaring Native flute. “Grandfather Pine” is today’s “epic”, a 14-minute meditation full of imaginative, playful and inspiring movements, gorgeous vocals, heartfelt Native flute, virtuoso improvised piano, skipping, energized congas. We complete today’s hour with one of Mariam’s early songs, the inspired, exotic “Open Every Day” from the Gaea Star Crystal LP, rendered with great spirit, imagination and energy.
