from GHS Sports Audio · host WGIL 93.7 FM - 1400 AM

For the Galesburg boys basketball team Tuesday night, the 3rd quarter is when the game got out of hand as Sterling out scored the Silver Streaks 27-11. Sterling never relinquished control on their way to the win at John Thiel Gym, 73-44. Galesburg is now 8-20 on the season and 2-10 in Western Big 6 play. Leading scorers for Galesburg included Jackson Crock Sibbing with 12 points and Tyree Taylor scored 11. Jace Keith contributed 7 points, as did Demetrius Watson coming off the bench. Leading rebounders in the game for Galesburg were Gino Williams and Tyree, both with 7. The Silver Streaks shot 31% from the field and 33% from 3-point range, while Sterling shot 51% from the field. The Golden Warriors out-rebounded the Silver Streaks and had 7 less turnovers in the game. Demetrius Watson was named the Dave’s Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game for his strong work on defense against Sterling's Andre Claver, one of the best point guards in the conference. Following the game, Galesburg head coach Chad Thompson presented the game ball to Sterling's Lucas Austin as he became the Golden Warriors' all-time leading scorer. He needed 20 points to do so, and that's what he ended up with in the game with a free throw in the 4th quarter clinching the record. The Galesburg boys have two more conference games at home to wrap up the regular season. Next up is Geneseo Friday (2/09) night as Brad Bennewitz and Jason Wessels will bring you the action starting with the pregame at 7:10pm on 93.7 FM & 1400 AM  WGIL, as well as streaming on wgil.com.
