Galesburg Boys Still In Hunt For 1st Conference Win After Loss To United Township

At the Panther Den in East Moline Friday night, the Galesburg boys basketball team once again were hindered by a scoring drought in the 3rd quarter and lost to United Township, 59 - 44. Galesburg was down by only 5 points at the half, but then they came out flat to start the 3rd quarter. By the halfway mark of that quarter, United Township had gone on an 11-1 scoring run, leading by 15. Galesburg got the lead cut down to 8, but then the 3rd quarter ended with Gino Williams of the Silver Streaks being ejected from the game with back-to-back technical fouls. The Silver Streaks are now  5 - 17 on the season, and still winless in the Western Big 6 conference this season at 0 - 8. For the second game in a row, Junior Tyree Taylor was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game. He led the Silver Streaks in points and had 9 rebounds. He also scored his varsity career high points in a game with 15. Next up for Galesburg is non-conference game Saturday afternoon (1/27) versus Peoria at the Manual Shootout.
