Galesburg Girls Suffer First Conference Loss of the Season

The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team had a tough shooting night Thursday at John Thiel Gym in a loss to Alleman, 56-48. The Streaks got behind early and just couldn't get back into the game as shots were hard to come by for the team. They made only 35% of their shots in the game, including only 4 of 25 from three-point range.  But Alleman shot the ball really well, going 18 of 39 from the field, including 3 of 8 from three-point range. Galesburg was led in scoring by Kiarra Kilgore with 23 points, Ella Herchenroder with 9, and Alexis Edgerson with 5. Just back from recuperating from an injury, Kiarra was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game. She had 13 of the 15 points that the Streaks scored in the first half. She also had 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and a block in the game. Galesburg is now 17-2 on the season and 6-1 in the Western Big 6. Next up for the Galesburg girls basketball team is a match-up with LaSalle-Peru at John Thiel Gym on Saturday (1/06).
