Galesburg Girls Win First Game of the Mattoon Holiday Tournament

The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team remain unbeaten after an overtime win against the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes, 58-53. The Streaks played in their first game of the Mattoon Holiday Tournament against a school they had only played once in program history. The Streaks began to find a rhythm throughout the game as they were once again without Kiarra Kilgore. Senior Alexis Egderson picked up the slack scoring a career high 28 points. The Streaks made some huge baskets late to force overtime and ended the game on a 8-2 run. The Streaks are now 15-0 on the season. Freshman Taylor Herchenroder was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game after a string of big plays she made down the stretch. She had a crucial steal along with two big free throws. The free throws were her only points of the game, and she added 2 assists. The Streaks will return to action tonight (12/28) to take on Marion at the Mattoon Holiday Tournament.
