Galesburg Girls Win over Geneseo on Senior Night

The Galesburg girls basketball team got a hard-fought win over Geneseo on Senior Night at John Thiel Gym on Thursday, 42-36. The Silver Streaks are now 23-5 on the season, 9-3 in the Western Big 6 and currently in 2nd place in the conference. Galesburg held on to win it despite being outscored in the 4th quarter, 15-7. In scoring for the Silver Streaks, Kiarra Kilgore led the way with 23 points. Alexis Edgerson finished with 10 points. Ella Herchenroder scored 5 points. Syriah Boyd and Taylor Herchenroader both scored 2 points. The Streaks were 15 of 44 from the field and 3 of 16 from 3-point range and struggled from the free throw line, 9 of 16. 20 turnovers by Galesburg kept Geneseo in the game. The Streaks out rebounded the Maple Leafs though, 41-20, including 14-6 on the offensive boards. All of the Galesburg seniors contributed in the win and on Senior Night were collectively named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch-Time Players of the Game. Kiarra Kilgore finished with another double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Alexis Edgerson had 10 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Syriah Boyd had 2 points and 5 rebounds.  Antonia Kisler had 9 rebounds and a steal, and Addison Peck had a rebound and a steal. Next up for the Galesburg girls basketball team, they go on the road to Rock Island on Saturday (2/03)  to take on the Rocks.
