Gardening School in Peru with Alberta Roots Empowers Community

A flourishing gardening program in a community on the edge of Lima, Peru, has connections to Alberta. The power of growing food to improve people's lives is not lost on the community of Manchay, located on the outskirts of Lima. There, a gardening school has changed the fortunes of the people, thereby empowering them. Calgarian Art Froelick, whose family's charitable trust started the school, said his family was looking to leave a legacy when he was introduced to someone who was interested in doing charity work in Peru.
