Gareth Isaac | Why Nervous and Excited Are the Same Feeling

Andrew sits down with Gareth Isaac, who originated the lead role of Buddy in the Australian premiere of Elf the Musical, ahead of the show's Melbourne season at the brand-new Crown Live theatre. Gareth speaks candidly about performing through depression and anxiety, why he's stopped reading his own reviews, and why he views imposter syndrome as an ongoing balancing act rather than something any performer ever truly resolves. They also dig into Gareth's roots in community theatre, the freedom of building Buddy as a completely original, non-replica Australian production, and the found-family message that runs through Elf. It's a warm, funny and surprisingly honest conversation about nerves, connection, and why he still gets butterflies before every single show.
