Gauteng Premier  Panyaza Lesufi has called for the protection of councilors and whistleblowers within municipalities. He was speaking at the opening of a gathering of thousands of ANC councillors at the FNB stadium, south of Johannesburg. Party president, Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to give the marching orders to the councillors ahead of next year's local government elections following the party's special NEC meeting at the weekend.
