In John 5, Jesus heals a man who had been sick for thirty-eight years at the Pool of Bethesda. Pastor Seth emphasizes the compassionate nature of Jesus, who seeks out those in pain rather than just the “highlights” of society. Jesus asks the man if he wants to be made well, if he has a personal desire for healing and change. The sermon challenges us to recognize and eliminate excuses that hinder us from experiencing transformation in our own lives. God works in mysterious ways, and while miracles may not always follow a predictable pattern, they require faith and action on our part.
