GIFF Finalist Interviews - Gadget Cacher by PezGremlin

from TFTC!! GEOCACHING RADIO · host Jin Kakino feat.GCer

“Gadget Cacher” PezGremlin (USA)──What inspired you to create this film for GIFF 2025?I have been part of a team of geocachers who put on the GIFF event in our area every year. Nobody from our area (Chicago, Illinois) had created a film as of yet and I wanted some representation from our area. I don't know when the idea for this film came to me, but I had been thinking about it for a long while; maybe 3 years.──How many people worked on your film, and how long did the production take?Including myself, there were 4 people involved. I did most of the camera work myself. I needed help with a few shots and recruited another geocacher (A-team-24) to help with those. I have a friend (Matthew Loeb) who plays piano and provided the soundtrack to the film. And one more friend (Neal E. Fischer) who did the editing of scenes. I filmed everything in about a week and then sat down for an afternoon with Neal to work through the editing process.──What was the most memorable or challenging part of making your film? The hardest part of making the film was finding the perfect tree to film. I wanted one in a park with a long horizontal limb that I could jump up to. While caching, I always kept an eye out for such a tree. I finally found one in Waukesha, Wisconsin which is about 100 miles north of where I live. I had to make sure I remembered all the props and camera before making the trip up otherwise the filming wouldn't have been as good. One memorable part of filming was when a small green insect flew up my pants and starting biting me. I had to take my pants off in the field and let it fly away.──Is there a moment in your film that you hope geocachers around the world will notice or appreciate?I hope geocachers took note of the title of the piano piece being played. It is "Poison Ivy Rag" by Herbert Ingraham and written in 1908. I have come across poison ivy in many of my geocaching adventures and this seemed like a very appropriate piece to use during this geocaching film.──Please share a message for geocachers in Japan.I visited Japan in 2018 and enjoyed exploring your beautiful country through geocaching. I know I visited some of the best places because of Japanese geocachers placing hides in worthwhile places to visit. I hope to return again some day.出演:PezGremlin、tonitta2119、Jin Kakino
