Give Me the Bible - Lesson 21 - Because It's Inspiration Is Shown by It's Archaeological Accuracy - Richard Melson

from 39th St Church of Christ Podcast · host 39thStreetChurchofChrist

In this episode, we examine how the Bible’s inspiration is shown by its archaeological accuracy. When we open God’s Word with honest and careful study, we find that the discoveries of archaeology have time and again confirmed what Scripture has always declared to be true. The apostle Peter writes in 2 Peter 1:21 (KJV), “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” This reminder that Scripture originates with God Himself is precisely what we would expect to find confirmed when the spade of the archaeologist meets the ground — and confirmed it has been. When we commit ourselves to what the Bible actually says, we find that every archaeological discovery that touches Scripture only deepens our confidence that God’s Word is not the invention of man but the inspired record of a God who was there. That confidence strengthens our trust in Scripture as our reliable and authoritative guide.
