Give Us Baseball

from Cornfield Sports Pod · host Matt Mensen; Blake Petersen

Today, another college baseball season begins, and another season begins without the Iowa State Cyclones competing for a division I title, but for the first time on opening day, at least we have an alternative option. We have Iowa State softball, and particularly Lea Nelson to thank for that. Chiefs Kingdom reigns for the next year, as Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and Clark Hunt hoisted the Lombardi trophy for the 2nd consecutive year. Earning the title was no easy feat, and Matt and Blake discuss the merits of the 49ers offense and why that means the Chiefs defensive efforts were so impressive. As the Celtics continue to dominate the NBA, the number of teams that threaten to be able to claim the O'Brien trophy over them dwindles. Week in and week out, the Bucks look like less of a competitor and the Timberwolves look like the best team in the west to take them down. The Kansas City Royals are the second of the teams we cover to have unveiled renderings of a new ballpark to be built, and it looks absolutely amazing.
