John Barlow is a Member of Parliament representing Foothills, Alberta for the Conservative Party of Canada. He is also the shadow minister for Agriculture, Agri-food, and Food Security. John spent the first quarter of his working life in Journalism after having left Saskatchewan to chase down his future. He excelled in Journalism so much so, he eventually went on to be the Editor of the Western Wheel, a popular rural newspaper in Western Canada. He spent 20 years delivering the news to Albertans. We discuss how he entered into politics, where he was practically begged by constituents in and around the High River, Okotoks, Alberta areas. He first campaigned against Danielle Smith in 2012 where he did extremely well. We get into the tough road of campaigning he had to go through, what with the 2012, 2015, and then again in the snap election of 2021. John Introduced Bill c-234 to exempt farmers from the carbon tax but was held up at the Senate level, after having passed in the House of Commons with all party supports.
