Historia Gnojna sięga czasów rzymskich. Wioska leżała na bursztynowym szlaku, a istniejące tam grodzisko zostało założone przez osadników kultury łużyckiej. Do dziś pozostały tam także pozostałości dworu obronnego, czyli jak chcą niektórzy zamku. Całkiem niedaleko jest też miejsce znanej bitwy!
