God's Holiness Calls You to Holiness This past Sunday we continued our "God Is" series with a powerful message on one of Scripture's most foundational truths: God is holy. From 1 Samuel 2:2 to the ceaseless cry of "Holy, holy, holy" in Revelation 4:8, the Bible makes clear that holiness isn't just one attribute among many: it is the very essence of who God is. Everything He thinks, speaks, and does flows from His perfect, set-apart nature. To bring this truth to life, the message walked us through the gripping story of Uzzah and the Ark of the Covenant in 2 Samuel 6. When Uzzah reached out to steady the Ark and was struck dead, it wasn't arbitrary..it was a sobering reminder that familiarity with holy things can quietly replace the reverence they deserve. David's journey in that passage mirrors one we're all invited into: moving from casual comfort, through holy fear, into deep reverence, and finally into joyful, wholehearted worship. The big idea landed with clarity and conviction: God's primary mission isn't to make us happy... it's to make us holy. Like fire, God's holiness is both a blessing and a warning, depending on how we approach it. The cross doesn't soften His holiness; it shows us just how serious...and how gracious it truly is.
