God the Father: His Divinity and Ministry — The Maker
from The Journey Church Houston Podcast · host The Journey
What comes into your mind when you think about God? In Session 2 of our Nicene Creed: Foundations of the Christian Faith class, Pastor Mace Perez helps us slow down over the opening confession of the Creed: “We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.” These aren’t abstract theological phrases. They are claims about reality. There is a God. There is only one God. He is Almighty. He created everything out of nothing. Before He created, He was already Father. If what we believe shapes what we worship—and what we worship shapes how we live—then these truths aren’t background doctrines. They are the foundation beneath everything. In this episode, we explore: The biblical confession of one God (Deuteronomy 6:4) The Fatherhood of God revealed fully in Jesus (John 17:24) The meaning of “Almighty” (El-Shaddai / Pantokrator) The Creator/creature distinction—and why it matters How this first article of the Creed quietly lays the groundwork against Arianism Why only the uncreated Creator is worthy of worship This conversation invites you to reconsider the most basic question: Who is God—and what difference does that make? If this episode serves you, consider subscribing to the podcast, leaving a review, or sharing it with someone who’s exploring historic Christianity.
