Have you ever felt like you're searching for something more—more purpose, more peace, more hope—but never quite finding it? When Evil Appears to Win | Daniel 11:36–12:13
When evil appears to be winning, how can we have hope? As we conclude our series through Daniel, we come to one of the Bible's most sobering, and hope-filled, visions. Daniel sees the rise of a future self-exalting ruler, a time of unprecedented trouble, and what appears to be the triumph of evil. Yet beneath the chaos, God is still sovereign. The final victory of evil is not actually the triumph of evil at all. It is the last stage before God delivers His people, raises the dead, and establishes His kingdom forever. In this message from Daniel 11:36–12:13, we explore the Antichrist, the Tribulation, the resurrection of the dead, and the hope that enables God's people to remain faithful even in the darkest days. Topics include: • Why evil sometimes appears to prosper • The Bible's vision of the end times • The promise of resurrection and final justice • How Christians can persevere through suffering • The Kingdom of God and the return of Christ God's people can remain faithful through the darkest days because God has already determined the final victory of His kingdom that cannot be shaken. Whether you're exploring Christianity, wrestling with difficult questions about suffering and evil, or seeking encouragement to remain faithful in a challenging world, this episode is for you. Prepared for What's Coming | Daniel 10:1–11:35
How can we prepare for suffering before it comes? In Daniel 10–11, God gives Daniel a remarkable vision of future kingdoms, political upheavals, spiritual conflict, and persecution. Yet the purpose of the prophecy is not merely to satisfy our curiosity about the future. It is to prepare God's people to remain faithful when suffering comes. One of the central messages of this passage is that God doesn't simply know the future. He rules the future. The rise and fall of empires, the actions of kings, and even the suffering of God's people all unfold under His sovereign authority. For Daniel's original audience, this revelation would have provided hope and stability in the midst of uncertainty. For Christians today, it reminds us that health crises, family difficulties, financial hardship, and seasons of suffering do not take God by surprise. Nothing enters our lives apart from the sovereign hand of our Father. Ultimately, Daniel points us beyond prophecy to Jesus Christ. Daniel shows us a God who is sovereign over suffering; the cross shows us a God who entered into suffering for our salvation. The greatest suffering in history was not outside God's control. It was the very means by which God accomplished redemption and brought us into His kingdom that cannot be shaken. If you're facing a difficult season or wrestling with questions about suffering, God's sovereignty, biblical prophecy, or Christian faithfulness, this message is for you. If this episode encouraged you, please rate, review, subscribe, and share it with someone who may need the reminder that God is in control and His purposes cannot fail. A Prayer and the Plan to End Sin | Daniel 9
How do you find hope in a world marked by suffering, injustice, and brokenness? In Daniel 9, we encounter one of the most significant prophecies in all of Scripture. As Daniel prays for the restoration of Israel, God answers with a glimpse into His greater plan, a plan to deal with sin, bring everlasting righteousness, and fulfill His promises through the coming Messiah. In this message, Pastor Steven Hiller explores Daniel's prayer of confession, God's gracious response, and the prophecy of the Seventy Weeks. Along the way, we discover that true hope is not found in ourselves, in politics, or in human progress, but in the faithfulness of God. Even when His timeline is longer than we expect, His purposes are moving forward exactly as He intends. Join us as we consider what Daniel 9 reveals about repentance, God's covenant faithfulness, Jesus Christ, and the hope available to all who trust in Him. When Kingdoms Collide | Daniel 8
When the world feels unstable, how can we remain steadfast and unshaken? In Daniel 8, God gives Daniel a vision of rising and falling kingdoms, powerful rulers, persecution, and suffering yet to come. At first glance, the vision seems troubling. But beneath the chaos is a reassuring truth: God is sovereign over history. The rise and fall of empires, the struggles of God's people, and even the darkest moments of human history unfold according to His purposes. In this sermon, Pastor Steven Hiller explores Daniel's vision of the ram, the goat, and the little horn, examines the historical fulfillment of these prophecies, and shows how fulfilled prophecy strengthens our confidence in God's promises for the future. Whether you're wrestling with uncertainty, trying to make sense of current events, or simply seeking deeper confidence in God's sovereignty, this message offers hope: when kingdoms collide, God's Kingdom cannot be shaken. When the Beasts Rise and Rage | Daniel 7
When the world feels unstable, where can we look for hope? In Daniel 7, the prophet Daniel receives a dramatic vision of beastly kingdoms rising from the sea, arrogant rulers opposing God, and a future marked by suffering and uncertainty. Yet above the chaos sits the Ancient of Days on His throne, and to the Son of Man is given an everlasting kingdom that will never be destroyed. In this message, Pastor Mace Perez explores how Daniel 7 reorients God's people to endure faithfully in the midst of frightening and uncertain times. The kingdoms of this world may appear powerful, but they are temporary. The Ancient of Days is still reigning, and the kingdom ultimately belongs to the Son of Man and His people. Whether you are navigating personal hardship, cultural uncertainty, political anxiety, or simply wondering where to find lasting hope, this passage offers a powerful reminder: the beasts are real, and the suffering is real, but neither is ultimate. God the Spirit | His Ministry: The Christian Life
What happens after we die? Is the Christian hope simply escaping to heaven—or something far greater? In this final session of our “Nicene Creed: Foundations of the Christian Faith” Discipleship Class, Pastor Mace Perez explores one of the most beautiful and often misunderstood truths of Christianity: “We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the age to come.” Together, we consider the Bible’s vision of resurrection, eternal life, the new heaven and new earth, and the renewing work of the Holy Spirit. Rather than describing eternity as disembodied souls floating in heaven forever, the Christian Story points us to the restoration of all things through Jesus Christ—the defeat of sin and death, renewed creation, resurrection bodies, and everlasting joy in the presence of God. Whether you are a longtime Christian, spiritually curious, or wrestling with questions about heaven, suffering, purpose, and eternity, this conversation invites you to see the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Christian Story with fresh eyes. Faithful and Vindicated | Daniel 6
What do we do when what is right and what feels easiest don’t line up? In Daniel 6, we encounter the familiar story of Daniel in the lions’ den. But beneath the surface is a deeper invitation to lives of quiet, steady faithfulness in a world constantly pulling our hearts in different directions. Daniel’s courage wasn’t built in a single dramatic moment. It was formed through years of ordinary obedience, prayer, integrity, and trust in God. In this sermon, Pastor Mace Perez explores what it means to remain faithful when honesty is costly, compromise is normalized, and cultural pressure quietly shapes our loves and loyalties. And ultimately, the story points us to Jesus—the greater Daniel—who was unjustly condemned, passed through death, and was vindicated through resurrection so that we could be welcomed into God’s unshakable kingdom. If you’ve ever wrestled with integrity, compromise, distraction, pressure, or the fear of doing the right thing when it costs something, this message is for you. A Tale of Two Kings | Daniel 4–5
What happens when powerful rulers come face to face with the God of heaven? In this sermon from Daniel 4–5, we explore the rise and fall of Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar and the ancient story behind the phrase “the writing is on the wall.” Through dreams, pride, judgment, and restoration, the book of Daniel reminds us that history is not random and our lives are not ruled by fate or chance. There is a King above every earthly kingdom, writing a greater story and calling us to find our place in it. God the Spirit | His Ministry: The Church
What does the Holy Spirit actually do—and how does His work become real in our lives today? In Session 10 of our Nicene Creed: Foundations of the Christian Faith Discipleship Class, Pastor Steven Hiller explores the ministry of the Holy Spirit in and through the Church. The Spirit is not distant or abstract—He is actively speaking through Scripture, forming a people, and drawing us into the reality of salvation through Jesus Christ. In this episode, we unpack what it means to confess that the Spirit has “spoken through the prophets,” how the Word of Christ continues to dwell richly among God’s people, and why the historic marks of the Church—one, holy, catholic, and apostolic—still matter for our identity and life together today. We also explore the meaning of baptism and how it serves as a visible, embodied expression of the saving work of Christ—pointing us to the grace we receive by faith and the new life we share in His body. Presence in the Fire | Daniel 3
What do you do when doing the right thing actually makes life harder? In this message from Daniel 3, Pastor Mace Perez walks through one of the most well-known accounts in Scripture—the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—and shows us that it’s not ultimately about escaping the fire… but about who is with you in it. We all face pressure, uncertainty, and fear—moments where we don’t control the outcome and have to decide what we’re really trusting. And while no one’s asking us to bow to a golden statue, the pull toward “respectable” idols—success, approval, comfort—is real. But what if faith isn’t about getting the outcome we want? What if it’s about trusting God for who He is… even if things don’t turn out the way we hoped? In this sermon, you’ll explore: The pressure to conform—and the courage to stand Why faithfulness sometimes leads us into the fire, not out of it The truth that God doesn’t always remove the fire—but He meets us in it How this story ultimately points to Jesus, the One who entered the ultimate fire for us Whether you’re exploring faith, returning to church, or looking to grow deeper, this message invites you to wrestle with a question we all face: 👉 Who or what will you trust when the pressure is on? God the Spirit | His Divinity
What comes to mind when you hear “Holy Spirit”? For some, it feels mysterious… even confusing. Is the Spirit a force? A feeling? Just God’s presence? Or is He something more? In this session of our Nicene Creed: Foundations of the Christian Faith Discipleship Class, Pastor Mace Perez helps us slow down and look carefully at what the Creed—and more importantly, Scripture—actually says about the Holy Spirit. The early church didn’t add these words casually. They were clarifying something essential: the Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force. He is the Lord, fully God, the giver of life, worthy of our worship. In this episode, we explore: Why the original creed said so little about the Spirit—and why that changed What it means to call the Holy Spirit “Lord” How the Spirit gives both physical and spiritual life What “proceeds from the Father” really means (and why it mattered in church history) Why the Spirit is worshiped and glorified alongside the Father and the Son Whether you’re a long-time believer or just beginning to explore Christianity, this teaching is designed to help you grow in clarity, confidence, and awe of who God is. The Trinity isn’t a puzzle to solve—it’s the God who has made Himself known to us: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The God Who Reveals and Rules | Daniel 2
What happens when everything that feels strong starts to fall apart? In this episode, Pastor Mace Perez walks through Book of Daniel chapter 2 and helps us wrestle with a question many of us feel but don’t always say out loud: Where can I find a foundation that won’t collapse when everything else does? Comfort, success, relationships, health, financial stability—these things can look secure in the moment, but they’re more fragile than we think. In Daniel 2, a powerful king has a dream that no one can explain. The best minds in his kingdom—his “experts,” his advisors—come up empty. And that’s the point. There are limits to human wisdom. There are things we simply cannot know… unless God reveals them. But the good news is this: God doesn’t just reveal mysteries—He rules history. This chapter gives us a sweeping vision of human kingdoms rising and falling—empires that once looked untouchable, now reduced to dust. And right in the middle of it all, we’re pointed to a coming kingdom that will never fall. A kingdom not built by human hands. A kingdom that will stand forever. If you’ve ever felt the instability of this world… if you’ve ever wondered whether anything truly lasts… this episode is for you. 👉 If this episode encouraged you, rate, review, subscribe, and share to help others discover the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Christian story.

God the Son | His Ministry: His Return and Kingdom
What if the future isn’t something to fear—but something to hope for? In this episode, Pastor Mace Perez teaches from the Nicene Creed on the return of Christ—what it means that Jesus will come again in glory, judge the living and the dead, and establish a kingdom that will never end. These ideas can feel confusing or even unsettling. But Scripture presents them as good news. Walking through passages like Acts 1, Matthew 25, and Revelation 20, this episode explores why Christ’s return is not about speculation or date-setting—but about hope. A hope rooted in the promise that evil will be dealt with, justice will be done, and God’s kingdom will endure forever. If you’ve ever wrestled with injustice, longed for restoration, or wondered where history is headed, this conversation is for you. Jesus is coming back. Evil will not get the last word. Faithful in Exile | Daniel 1
Something about the world we’re living in feels different. Many people sense it, even if they struggle to find the right words to describe it. The Bible has a word for that experience: exile. In Daniel 1, we meet a young man taken from his home and immersed in a new culture with different values and expectations. Rather than responding with hostility or compromise, Daniel lives with wisdom, humility, and quiet conviction—honoring earthly authority while remaining ultimately loyal to God. The story of the Bible is the story of God restoring His Kingdom through a promised Savior-King. And even when His people fail, God remains faithful. Daniel’s story reminds us that we can trust Him—and that it’s possible to live with clarity and courage, even in unfamiliar or uncomfortable circumstances. In this episode, we explore: Our first allegiance is to the Kingdom of God Our second allegiance is to our earthly nation And how to seek the good of where we live without compromising what matters most If this episode encouraged you, consider rating, reviewing, subscribing, and sharing so more people can discover the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Christian story. God the Son | His Ministry: His Resurrection and Ascension
What is Jesus doing right now? We often think about what Jesus did—his birth, his death, even his resurrection. But the Nicene Creed invites us to consider something we often overlook: what Christ is doing today. In this session from our Nicene Creed series, we explore three defining movements of Christ’s ministry: He rose. He ascended. He is seated. This isn’t just theology for the classroom—it’s truth meant to reshape how we see our lives, our prayers, and our world. The resurrection isn’t just life after death—it’s death itself being undone. The ascension isn’t Jesus disappearing—it’s Jesus entering into his reign. His being seated at the right hand of the Father means he is ruling over all things and interceding for us right now. If you’ve ever wondered whether Jesus feels distant, passive, or removed from your everyday life, this conversation is for you. Because the good news of the gospel doesn’t end with an empty tomb. Jesus is alive. He is present. He is reigning. He is interceding. And that changes everything. ⭐ If this episode encouraged or challenged you, take a moment to rate, review, and subscribe—it helps more people discover the podcast. A Kingdom That Cannot Be Shaken | Daniel Overview
Life feels unsettled right now—political division, global conflict, constant change. It’s easy to wonder: Who’s really in control? Is history just chaos? Where can I find hope and peace? In this opening message from our series in the book of Daniel, Pastor Mace Perez invites us into the story of a young man taken into exile under a powerful empire—and into a truth that changes everything: history is not random. Behind the rise and fall of kingdoms stands the sovereign God whose kingdom cannot be shaken. From the fiery furnace to the lion’s den, and from astonishing visions of future empires to the humble confession of a powerful king in Daniel 4:34–37, this book reveals that God rules over every kingdom and is bringing all things toward His eternal kingdom. And because of that, His people can live with faithfulness, courage, and hope—even in uncertain times. Ultimately, Daniel points us to Jesus—the true King who came, died, and rose again to bring us into His kingdom… and who will return to establish it forever. The Story Isn’t Over… | Mark 16:1–8 | Easter Sunday 2026
What if Easter isn’t the end of the story? We often think of the resurrection as the grand finale—Jesus dies, and then He rises. Death defeated. Hope restored. And that’s true. But the Gospel of Mark tells the story differently. It ends not with celebration, but with tension…with fear…with people who don’t know what to do next. Almost like the story isn’t finished yet. In this Easter message from Mark 16:1–8, Pastor Mace Perez explores what it means that the story of Jesus didn’t end at the cross—or even at the empty tomb—and how the resurrection isn’t just something to believe, but something that invites a response. Whether you’re exploring Christianity or looking to go deeper, we hope this message helps you take a next step. God the Son | His Ministry: His Death
How do you know when someone truly loves you? It’s not just in what someone says—it’s in what they do. And the clearest expressions of love are often the most costly. In this episode, Pastor Mace Perez continues our Nicene Creed series by exploring the meaning of Christ’s death: that He “was crucified… suffered… and was buried… for us.” Far from abstract theology, these words point to real historical events—under Pontius Pilate—and invite us to consider their personal significance. Why the cross? This episode addresses questions like: Did Jesus really die—and why does it matter? Why is the cross central to the Christian faith? What does it mean that Jesus died “for us”? Whether you’re exploring Christianity or seeking a deeper understanding of the gospel, this teaching offers both clarity and invitation. The cross is not just something to understand. God the Son | His Ministry, The Incarnation
What does it really mean that God became human—and why does it matter for your life? In Session 5 of our Nicene Creed class, Pastor Steven Hiller explores one of the most profound and central claims of the Christian faith: the incarnation of Jesus Christ. This isn’t abstract theology—it’s the heart of the Christian Story. From the first promise in Genesis to the humility of Christ in Philippians, this episode traces how God the Son entered into our world—not by losing His divinity, but by taking on our humanity. Fully God. Fully man. For us and for our salvation. The incarnation reveals that God is not distant—He has stepped into our story. Standing Strong Together in Christ | Ephesians 6:10–24
What if the biggest battles in your life aren’t the ones you can see? In this sermon from Ephesians 6:10–24, Pastor Mace Perez explores the reality that behind so much of the confusion, discouragement, and division we experience, there is a deeper, unseen spiritual conflict. But instead of calling us to fear, the apostle Paul calls the church to stand—together—in the strength that God provides. Drawing on the imagery of the “armor of God,” this message shows that the Christian life isn’t about trying harder or becoming stronger on our own. It’s about standing firm in what is already ours in Christ—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation—and living that out together as His people. Whether you’re exploring faith, returning to church, or simply looking for something more grounded and enduring, this episode invites you to consider where your strength is coming from—and what it might look like to stand firm in something (or Someone) greater than yourself. The Spirit-Filled Home | Ephesians 5:22–6:9
What does it actually look like when the gospel begins to change someone’s life? It’s easy to look spiritual for an hour on Sunday. But what about the other 167 hours of the week? What would the people closest to us—our spouse, our kids, our coworkers, or our classmates—say about our character and our faith? In this sermon from Epistle to the Ephesians 5:22–6:9, Pastor Mace Perez explores what the Apostle Paul says a Spirit-filled life looks like in our closest relationships. Paul applies the gospel to the ordinary places where life actually happens—our marriages, our families, and even our work. Far from promoting control or hierarchy, this passage shows how the lordship of Christ transforms everyday life. When Christ is truly Lord, authority becomes sacrificial responsibility, and submission becomes devotion to Him. The gospel doesn’t just change what we believe—it reshapes how we love, serve, and lead the people around us. Children of the Light | Ephesians 5:1–21
What does it mean to live as children of light in a dark world? In this sermon from Ephesians 5:1–21, we explore the Apostle Paul’s call for Christians to live out their identity in Christ. Writing to new Gentile believers, Paul reminds them—and us—that the Christian life begins with who we already are in Christ. Through Jesus, we are united to Him in salvation and united to one another in His Church. Because of that union, Paul calls us to imitate God as beloved children. In this passage we see three marks of a life shaped by the light of Christ: • Children of light imitate God’s love — just as Christ gave Himself for us. • Children of light shun the darkness — rejecting the selfish patterns of the old life. • Children of light shine in and through the Church — exposing darkness and reflecting the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Christian Story. Paul’s message is not moralism or legalism. It is a call to live into the identity already given to us in Christ. God the Son | His Divinity, Part 2
Who is Jesus—really? In this episode, we continue our study through the Nicene Creed, focusing on the full divinity of the Son. In A.D. 325, the Church gathered at Nicaea to respond to the claim that “there was a time when the Son was not.” The Creed’s answer was precise, biblical, and enduring. We explore what these defining lines mean: God from God Light from Light True God from true God Begotten, not made Of the same essence as the Father Through Him all things were made What do these phrases actually communicate? Why did they matter in the fourth century—and why do they still matter today? In a world where many people say, “I believe in God,” but mean very different things, clarity is essential. The Creed gives us language rooted in Scripture to confess that Jesus Christ is not a created being, not a lesser god, not an intermediary—but truly God from God, Light from Light. If you’re seeking a deeper, historically grounded understanding of who Jesus is, this episode will help you think carefully and worship confidently. Made New in Christ, Now Live New | Ephesians 4:17–32
When an NFL team drafts a player, they hand him a new jersey and say, “You’re part of this team now. This is what we wear. This is how we play. This is how we carry ourselves.” He doesn’t put on the jersey to become part of the team. He puts it on because he already is. In this episode, Pastor Mace Perez walks through Ephesians 4:17–32 and unpacks the Apostle Paul’s message to Christians: God has already made you new in Christ by grace through faith. Now live like who you already are. Christianity is not behavior modification. It is Spirit-driven renewal flowing from a new identity. If you’ve ever wondered how the gospel actually changes everyday life — your speech, your relationships, your habits — this episode is for you. God the Son: His Divinity, Part 1
What does it mean to call Jesus the “Son of God”? In this teaching session, we explore one of the most profound claims of historic Christian faith: that Jesus Christ is not only Savior and King, but the eternal Son of God. The earliest Christian confession was simple but revolutionary: “Jesus is Lord.” In the biblical context, this means Jesus shares in the divine name and authority of God. The Creed describes Jesus as the “only-begotten Son of God… begotten of the Father before all ages.” This does not mean Jesus had a beginning. The Son is from the Father, but not after the Father. There was never a time when the Son was not, because there was never a time when the Father was not the Father. This isn’t abstract philosophy — it’s about worship. If Jesus is truly Lord, then worshiping Jesus is worshiping the one true God. If this episode helps you better understand who Jesus is, consider subscribing to the podcast and sharing it with someone who might be encouraged by it. Walking Together as One in Christ | Ephesians 4:1–16
Community is essential for human flourishing — and yet it’s often the hardest thing to sustain. We long for belonging, but unity doesn’t happen automatically. In Ephesians 4:1–16, the Apostle Paul turns from doctrine to daily life. If chapters 1–3 are true — if God has reconciled us to Himself through Christ and united us into one new humanity — then how should we live? Paul’s answer: we walk together by being formed together by the truth of the gospel. This passage shows us: The Call: Walk in unity with humility, gentleness, patience, and love (vv. 1–3) The Foundation: Our unity is grounded in seven unshakable “ones” — shared gospel realities that make us family (vv. 4–6) The Goal: As Christ gives Word-centered leaders to equip His people, the whole church grows into mature, stable, truth-shaped love (vv. 7–16) Truth doesn’t divide. Sin does. Pride does. Immaturity does. But truth spoken in love binds us together and helps us grow up into Christ. Jesus didn’t just save isolated individuals. He created a people. And as each part does its work — speaking truth, encouraging one another, bearing with one another — the body grows. Christ died to make us one. Now we learn to live like it. God the Father: His Divinity and Ministry — The Maker
What comes into your mind when you think about God? In Session 2 of our Nicene Creed: Foundations of the Christian Faith class, Pastor Mace Perez helps us slow down over the opening confession of the Creed: “We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.” These aren’t abstract theological phrases. They are claims about reality. There is a God. There is only one God. He is Almighty. He created everything out of nothing. Before He created, He was already Father. If what we believe shapes what we worship—and what we worship shapes how we live—then these truths aren’t background doctrines. They are the foundation beneath everything. In this episode, we explore: The biblical confession of one God (Deuteronomy 6:4) The Fatherhood of God revealed fully in Jesus (John 17:24) The meaning of “Almighty” (El-Shaddai / Pantokrator) The Creator/creature distinction—and why it matters How this first article of the Creed quietly lays the groundwork against Arianism Why only the uncreated Creator is worthy of worship This conversation invites you to reconsider the most basic question: Who is God—and what difference does that make? Rooted in the Love of Christ | Ephesians 3:14–21
What does it mean to be rooted in the love of Christ? In Ephesians 3:14–21, the Apostle Paul prays that the church would have strength to comprehend the breadth and length and height and depth of Christ’s love—and to know that love together. This love is not a private spiritual experience or vague sentiment. It is a love that forms a people. In this sermon, Pastor Steven Hiller explores how we actually come to know Christ’s love—not in isolation, but in the life of the church as we love one another the way He has loved us. When the church is rooted and grounded in that love, Christ is glorified. If this episode strengthens you, consider subscribing to the podcast, leaving a review, and sharing it with a friend who might be encouraged. The Nicene Creed: Historical Setting + "We Believe" | Nicene Creed: Foundations of the Christian Faith, Session 1
What do Christians really mean when we say, “We believe”? And why did the church feel compelled 1,700 years ago to put those beliefs into words? In this first session of our Discipleship Class, Nicene Creed: Foundations of the Christian Faith, Pastor Mace Perez explores the historical setting of the Nicene Creed and why it was written in response to serious misunderstandings about who Jesus is. Far from being dry or abstract theology, the Creed emerged because the early church cared deeply about truth, worship, and faithfully confessing the gospel. This episode helps situate the Nicene Creed within the Christian story and invites us to see it not merely as a historical document, but as a shared confession that continues to shape Christian faith and worship today. In this episode, you’ll hear about: What was at stake in the Arian controversy Why the church gathered at the Council of Nicaea How the Creed clarifies rather than invents Christian belief Why Christians say “we believe”—and how shared confession forms us over time 🎧 If this episode is helpful, follow or subscribe to the podcast so you don’t miss future sessions. ⭐ Consider rating and reviewing the podcast—it helps others discover it. 📤 Share this episode with someone who’s curious about Christian belief or church history. The Mystery of Fellow Heirs in Christ | Ephesians 3:1–13
What if hardship isn’t getting in the way of God’s plan but is actually part of it? In Ephesians 3:1–13, Paul writes from prison and insists that his suffering is not a detour but a means by which God is revealing His long-hidden wisdom: that Gentiles are fellow heirs in Christ. In this sermon, Pastor Mace Perez explores the biblical idea of mystery—not as something unknowable, but as something once hidden and now revealed—and why God often shows us the what of His purposes long before we understand the how. If following Jesus feels costly, confusing, or harder than you expected, this passage invites you to see hardship not as evidence of God’s absence, but often as evidence that He’s at work, bringing grace, reconciliation, and bold access to Himself through Christ, and displaying His wisdom through the church. Habits of the Household | Family Discipleship Workshop, Spring 2026
What if the routines of everyday life were doing more than helping us get through the day—what if they were quietly shaping what we love, what we worship, and who we’re becoming? In this Family Discipleship Workshop, Pastor Steven Hiller explores how our household habits function like a kind of liturgy—repeated rhythms that form us over time. From waking up in the morning, to shared meals, to bedtime, the ordinary moments of family life are powerful opportunities to immerse ourselves in the Christian Story and grow in love for God and one another. Drawing from Deuteronomy 6:4–7 and practical wisdom from Habits of the Household by Justin Earley, this conversation offers simple, realistic practices families can try—without guilt, pressure, or the pressure to have a “perfect” home. The goal isn’t to add more to your schedule, but to reorient what you’re already doing toward worship, community, and spiritual formation. Whether you’re a parent, a couple, or simply someone thinking about how faith connects to everyday life, this episode invites you to see your home as a place where discipleship can quietly and faithfully take shape. One New Man: Reconciled in Christ | Ephesians 2:11–22
Have you ever felt like an outsider—left out, overlooked, or on the margins? In Ephesians 2:11–22, the apostle Paul goes deeper than social discomfort or personal insecurity. He names a far more serious condition: apart from Christ, we were spiritually cut off—without hope and without God in the world. But the gospel announces a dramatic reversal. In this episode, Pastor Mace Perez walks through Ephesians 2:11–22 and shows how Jesus reconciles outsiders to God and to one another. Through His death, Christ tears down dividing walls of hostility, creates “one new man”—the Church—and gives us true peace: peace with God and peace with each other. Once Dead, Now Alive in Christ | Ephesians 2:1–10
We are all born into a trap we can’t rescue ourselves from. In Ephesians 2:1–10, the apostle Paul tells us something both sobering and hopeful: we weren’t just struggling or spiritually sick—we were dead in our sin, powerless to save ourselves. That truth helps explain why so many of us feel that life should be better, yet we can’t quite get there on our own. But in mercy, God stepped in. In this message, Pastor Mace Perez explores our spiritual predicament, the rescue God provides in Christ by grace through faith, and the purpose for which we’ve been saved—not by good works, but for good works. This sermon invites both longtime Christians and thoughtful seekers to consider what it truly means to move from death to life in Christ. That You May Know the Power of Christ | Ephesians 1:15–23
Do you know about God, or do you truly know Him? In this episode, we explore Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1:15–23, where he asks that God would open the eyes of believers’ hearts—not simply to gain more information, but to truly know the hope of His calling, the immeasurable greatness of His power, and the authority of Jesus Christ who reigns over all things. Pastor Steven Hiller shows how real spiritual growth doesn’t come from trying harder or merely learning more, but from God illuminating our hearts as we live in relationship with Him and with one another. Paul’s prayer reminds us that we come to know God and experience His power not in isolation, but as part of the church—the body of Christ—where His life, wisdom, and strength are made visible through a shared life of worship, discipleship, and mission. Blessed in Christ: Chosen, Redeemed, and Sealed (Ephesians 1:3–14)
What if your worth before God isn’t something you achieve but something you receive? In Ephesians 1:3–14, the apostle Paul opens his letter with a sweeping song of praise, reminding us that every spiritual blessing God promises is given in Christ. In this sermon, Pastor Mace Perez explores how believers—both Jew and Gentile—are chosen by the Father, redeemed by the Son, and sealed by the Holy Spirit, and why the proper response to grace is not striving, but worship. Christianity isn’t about doing more to earn God’s favor. It’s about trusting what God has already done for us in Jesus and learning to live from that secure identity rather than for it. Ephesians: United in Christ | Ephesians 1:1–2 + Overview
What does it really mean to belong? In this opening episode of our new series through Ephesians, Pastor Steven Hiller introduces Paul’s letter as a foundational guide for the Christian life. Written to early believers navigating confusion, opposition, and uncertainty, Ephesians shows us who we are in Christ, the riches of the salvation we’ve received, and the beauty of the community we’ve been united to—the Church. Using the image of moving into a new home and receiving a letter that explains how everything works, this message frames Ephesians as God’s gracious orientation to life in Christ: What God has done through Jesus What it means to be united to Him and to His people How the gospel reshapes the way we live in a broken world This episode provides a big-picture overview of the book, tracing its movement from God’s eternal plan of salvation, to the unity of Jew and Gentile in one body, to a call to live lives worthy of our calling and to stand firm in spiritual opposition. Whether you are exploring Christianity, newly rooted in faith, or seeking deeper theological grounding, this message sets the stage for the journey ahead. From the Manger to the Throne | Psalm 110
Christmas tells us that Jesus has come, but Psalm 110 helps us see why He came and where the story is going. In this episode, Pastor Mace Perez helps us walk from the manger to the throne, exploring Psalm 110, the most quoted Old Testament passage in the New Testament, to see Jesus revealed as the promised Priest-King. Born in humility, risen in victory, now reigning at the right hand of the Father, and coming again to judge and renew all things, Jesus stands at the center of the Christian Story. Let Earth Receive Her King | Christmas Eve 2025 (Luke 1:31–33)
What’s wrong with the world, and is there any real hope it will ever be made right? In this Christmas Eve sermon, Pastor Mace Perez reflects on Luke 1:31–33, where the angel Gabriel announces to Mary that her Son will be the Savior, the Son of God, and the everlasting King. At the heart of the Christmas story is a bold claim: Jesus, the Divine Savior-King, has come to save, and He will come again to make all things right. Drawing on the beauty of the Christmas narrative, the deep longings of the human heart for hope, peace, joy, and love, and echoes from C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia, this message explores what it truly means to “let earth receive her King.” Whether you’re exploring the Christian story for the first time, returning to faith after some time away, or seeking to deepen your walk with Christ, this sermon invites you to consider the good news of Christmas anew. 📍 Join us in person on Sundays at 10:30 AM The Journey Church Houston 1703 Heights Blvd., Houston, TX 77008 Christmas proclaims this good news: the rightful King has landed—quietly, humbly, and full of grace.

The Grand Story of Scripture | Session 13: The King Returns to Establish His Kingdom (Revelation)
The book of Revelation brings us to the end of the Story and the beginning of everything made new. How does the Bible end? Not with escape, but with resolution. Not with uncertainty, but with hope. In this final session of The Grand Story of Scripture, Pastor Steven Hiller walks through the book of Revelation to show how God fulfills His covenant promises, judges evil, restores Israel, and returns in power and glory as King. In this episode, we explore: Revelation as the resolution of the biblical plot Jesus as the Lion who opens the scroll and reclaims His Kingdom The purpose of the Tribulation and the Day of the Lord The return of Christ, the Millennial Kingdom, and the final judgment The New Heaven and New Earth—the Garden restored, but better This teaching isn’t just about the end of the world. Love: Waiting for the King of Steadfast Love (Psalm 89)
What do you do when what you believe about God doesn’t seem to match what you’re experiencing? In Psalm 89, the psalmist praises God’s steadfast love, rehearses His covenant promises, and then honestly laments when those promises appear unfulfilled. It’s a prayer shaped by longing—a refusal to let go of God even when life doesn’t make sense. In this Advent sermon, “Love: Waiting for the King of Steadfast Love,” Pastor Mace Perez helps us explore how Psalm 89 points beyond itself to Jesus, the promised Son of David. God’s love may feel delayed, but it is never denied. Advent teaches us how to wait with hope, how to lament with faith, and how to trust that God is still keeping His promises. The Grand Story of Scripture | Session 12: The Church, the Kingdom's Embassy (Epistles)
Where do we live in the biblical story right now, and what does that mean for the Church? In Session 12 of The Grand Story of Scripture, we arrive at the Falling Action of the Bible’s plot: the present age of the Church. In this teaching, Pastor Steven Hiller traces how the New Testament Epistles explain Christ’s finished work on the cross, the temporary hardening of Israel, and the surprising, glorious reality of the Church as God’s New Covenant people, an embassy of the future Kingdom living in the world today. This episode explores why the Epistles are letters written to real churches in real conflicts, how Gentiles become co-heirs in Christ, what it means for the Holy Spirit to be a “deposit” of the coming Kingdom, and how the Church is called to live faithfully while waiting for Christ’s return. Joy: Rejoicing as We Long for the King (Psalm 98)
What does real joy look like when the world still feels unfinished? In this Advent message from Psalm 98, we explore a deeper, sturdier joy, one that doesn’t ignore the groaning of the world, but sings in hope because of who is coming. The Psalm calls God’s people to raise a joyful noise, not only for what God has done, but for what He has promised to do when the King returns. This sermon traces the movement of Psalm 98 from Israel, to all peoples, to all creation, showing how the joy of God’s salvation keeps expanding until the day Christ comes again to make all things right. Even now, as we wait, we rejoice because the greater joy is coming. The Grand Story of Scripture | Session 11: Kingdom Coming — The Kingdom is Delayed & Heralded (Acts)
In Acts 1:8, Jesus gives His disciples a mission that will change history: “You will be my witnesses … to the ends of the earth.” In this episode of The Grand Story of Scripture, Pastor Mace Perez explores how the risen and ascended King commissions His people to proclaim and embody the good news wherever they go. Acts isn’t merely church history—it’s the next chapter of God’s Kingdom storyline. After the King is rejected in the Gospels, He rises, reigns, and sends His Spirit. What Jesus began, the Spirit continues through His church. Along the way, we watch God overturn persecution, imprisonment, human opposition, and even failure in order to bring the gospel to the nations and advance His Kingdom. Peace: Longing for the King of Shalom (Psalm 72)
In this Advent message, we explore Psalm 72—a powerful prayer that gives voice to one of the deepest longings of the human heart: the longing for peace. All of us feel that the world isn’t the way it’s supposed to be—cancer, hunger, war, injustice, natural disasters, and personal suffering. Theologian Cornelius Plantinga described this brokenness as the “vandalism of shalom.” Psalm 72 invites us to cry out for the King who alone can restore peace—not just the absence of conflict, but the presence of shalom: justice, flourishing, wholeness, and life the way God intended. In this sermon, Pastor Mace Perez walks through Psalm 72 and shows how it calls us to long for the King who brings peace for the poor and oppressed, peace for all nations, and peace for all creation. Ultimately, this longing is fulfilled in Jesus—the King who came, who conquered the enemies of peace through His life, death, and resurrection, and who will return to make all things new. Hope: Though the Nations Rage, the King Will Reign (Psalm 2)
In a world marked by conflict, anxiety, and constant upheaval, Psalm 2 offers a surprising and stabilizing word of hope. In this Advent message, Pastor Steven Hiller explores the deep longing of God’s people, both ancient Israel anticipating the Messiah and the church today awaiting Christ’s return. Psalm 2 pulls back the curtain on a cosmic drama: nations grasping for power, a God who is never threatened, and a promised King who will one day reign with justice, strength, and peace. At a time when the cultural “Christmas season” often forms us toward comfort, consumption, and sentimentality, Advent re-forms us with a yearning for the true King and His coming kingdom. Genesis 50 | Not the End of the Story
The book of Genesis doesn’t end with resolution. It ends with a coffin. Yet Genesis 50 shows us that this is not the end of God’s story, and it’s not the end of ours. In this week’s sermon, Pastor Steven Hiller unpacks Joseph’s final words, Jacob’s royal burial, and the unshakeable promises of the Abrahamic Covenant. Even in the midst of grief, God is moving history toward resurrection, restoration, and the Kingdom He has promised from the beginning. This episode invites you to trace the sweeping arc of the Christian Story, from creation and fall to covenant and hope, and to see how Jesus Christ fulfills every longing introduced in Genesis and every longing of the human heart. The Grand Story of Scripture | Session 10: The King’s New Covenant — Death and Resurrection
In this episode, we reach the climax of the biblical story. The long-awaited King arrives, but instead of receiving Him, Israel rejects Him. That rejection sets in motion the events of Holy Week and ultimately becomes the means by which God brings redemption to the world. We trace the major movements of the Gospels: • The Triumphal Entry and renewed rejection • Jesus’ pronouncement of judgment in the Olivet Discourse • The Passover, Last Supper, and the inauguration of the New Covenant • The crucifixion of the King and the irony of His “crime” • The vindication of Jesus through His resurrection • The Great Commission that launches the next phase of God’s Story If you’re exploring how the Bible fits together from Genesis to the Gospels, this episode will help you see Jesus’ death and resurrection as the decisive turning point in the Story, where the serpent strikes the heel of the Seed of the Woman, only to be dealt a fatal blow three days later.
