In this episode, we examine how God the Holy Spirit and the claims of Calvinism stand when measured against the Word of God. When we open God's Word with honest and careful study, we find that Scripture presents a picture of the Holy Spirit that cannot be reconciled with what Calvinism teaches about His work and operation. The apostle Peter writes in 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV), "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." This clear declaration from God's Word stands directly against the Calvinist notion that the Holy Spirit works only in the elect — revealing instead a God whose desire reaches every soul. When we commit ourselves to what the Bible actually says about the Holy Spirit, we find that Scripture is sufficient to expose where Calvinism departs from the truth — calling us back to a God who is no respecter of persons and a Spirit whose work is revealed fully and finally in His Word — strengthening our confidence in God's Word as our reliable and authoritative guide.
