God’s Word Is Enough: Why Tradition Shouldn’t Supercede Doctrine
from Highland Gospel Mission · host Highland Southern Baptist Church
Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Timothy 3 today. Highland adopts a Southern Baptist denomination, but this denomination isn’t without issues. There are some churches that hold traditions that go contrary to actual scriptural doctrine. One example are the qualifications of pastors and deacons. Some people have been divorced in the past, and others have struggled with alcohol addiction. Neither of these automatically disqualifies anyone from being a pastor or a deacon. It has everything to do with how he currently conducts himself, and how he treats his wife and children. Whenever we apply additional rules as doctrine, we are basically saying God’s rules aren’t good enough, and that is wrong. God’s word is enough, we don’t need to add to it.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro.
