Gossip Versus Processing Part 3 | Healing Has a Purpose—and a Proper Process | Daily Bread

In Part 3 of Gossip Versus Processing, The Mandated Reporter explains that healthy processing has a purpose and should gradually lead toward healing, wisdom, forgiveness, boundaries, and responsible action.Processing does not mean continually repeating an offense or making the wound part of one’s permanent identity. There is a difference between examining pain so it can be treated and rehearsing pain so that anger remains alive.Using the comparison of a physical wound, the episode explains that emotional and spiritual injuries also require proper care. Prayer and Scripture are essential, but healing may also require tears, confession, trusted counsel, pastoral support, healthy boundaries, or help from a qualified, Holy Spirit filled mental-health professional – when prompted by Holy Spirit to do so.The episode also addresses the fear of speaking honestly when the person involved is a leader.
