Today, I want to speak to the mum who may be walking a path she never expected — the mum raising a child with autism, special needs, or unique challenges. Motherhood is filled with beautiful moments, but there are also seasons that stretch us in ways we never imagined. There are appointments, questions, uncertainties, advocating, waiting, celebrating small victories, and carrying emotions that others may never see. And sometimes, the hardest battles are the ones carried quietly. As a Christian mum raising a son on the autism spectrum, I have discovered something profound: this journey has drawn me closer to Jesus. It has taught me that my strength was never meant to come from myself. There have been moments where I have felt weary. Moments where I have wondered if I was doing enough. Moments where I have felt misunderstood or alone. But in those places, God has met me. He has met me in the ordinary moments of motherhood. He has strengthened me in the weary places. He has reminded me that His grace truly is sufficient. My son is not my burden — he is one of God’s precious gifts to me. But through this journey, God has used motherhood to shape my heart, deepen my faith, and teach me daily dependence on Him. I have learned to celebrate the small victories. To find joy in the moments others may overlook. To trust God with the things I cannot control. And to remember that my child’s story is held safely in the hands of a loving Father. To every mum walking a different path: You are seen by God. The tears you wipe away. The prayers you whisper. The sacrifices nobody notices. The love you pour out every single day. God sees it all. When others may not understand, Jesus does. He understands the exhaustion. He understands the uncertainty. He understands the longing of a mother’s heart. And today, I want to remind you: You do not have to carry this journey alone. The same Jesus who called you to this season will strengthen you for every step ahead. His power is made perfect in our weakness. "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." — 2 Corinthians 12:9 So today, we exchange the weight we carry for the strength Christ gives. We exchange fear for faith. Exhaustion for His strength. Isolation for His presence. Control for surrender. Because our children are held by a faithful God. And we are held by Him too. His strength. Our weakness. His grace.
