Hello everyone, I'm Pastor Donnie Jestra. Welcome to this program today. We have been teaching a series of just started last week on the Believer's Authority. The authority of the believer.
You see God wants you and I to know that we have authority over the powers of darkness. So we're gonna be reading the same text starting with what we did last week. Give you time to get your Bible. You go to Mark's Gospel chapter 13 verse 34.
Again, that's Mark's Gospel chapter 13 verse 34. While you're turning there, I wanna invite you to become a partner with this ministry. I believe that we are doing what the Lord would have us to do. We're here to shake the bushes and to cause the devils to quake in the shake.
And we wanna get treasures out of darkness. So you can look on the screen and see our address. You also can see that you can text an offering. And that is safe, that's secure.
It will simply show you as you text that how to fill it out the information and it'll go right to the bank account. It won't go to my account. It'll go right to the church's bank account. So it's a good seed, I believe.
So long, good ground will cause a great harvest. So let's go right into the word. Mark's Gospel chapter 13 verse 34. Jesus said for the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey.
Who left his house and gave authority to his servants. And to every man, his work and commanded the porter to watch. You know, we talked about as we opened this teaching of series last week, we talked about three keys to the authority of the believer. We talked about redemption.
We've been redeemed by the blood of the lamb, praise God. We're going to talk about righteousness and resistance. If you're taking notes one more time, three keys to authority we're gonna look at today. And the rest of this series is redemption, righteousness and then resistance.
So we're gonna pick up kind of where we left off last week. We were talking about the power that God has given the church. And especially if you've been baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with other tongues, as the Spirit of God gives us, the Bible said, you shall receive power and the denominas after that the Holy Ghost comes up on you. Power to walk right, power to talk right, power to cast out devils, power to lay your hands on people and believe God for them to recover, praise God forever, authority.
So we're gonna look at this scripture in Mark's Gospel, Luke's Gospel chapter 10 verse 19. We talked about it last week when the 70s returned off of the missionary journey, they were so exlated that the demons were subject to them through the name of Jesus, excuse me. And then we pick up at verse 19, Jesus said, behold, I give you power over all, or over serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall, by any means hurt you. Notice there's two words that are power in that same text and they both have different meanings.
So Jesus said, behold, I give you power. And that word in the Greek is the word authority. You know, it's important to know, even Barney Five knew when he stood there finally on the side of the road with those vegetable farmers and told him, look, y'all may be bigger than me, you only had one bullet, I think it was still in his pocket. So you may feel like Barney Five, you may feel like you only have one bullet and it's in your pocket, you may feel like, well, what can I do?
I'm gonna tell you something. When Barney knew that all the state of North Carolina and Mayberry, all of them, all of that authority, back in him up, he could stand bold. So you have to realize that no matter how you feel and you're a Christian, you think, well, I can never do that. Yes, you can, yes, you can.
Oh, that's for some of God's generals, no, honey, it's for you. Sir, it's for you. You need to rise up and understand that Jesus has given you a power of attorney, he's given you authority. He said, so behold, I give you authority over serpents and over scorpions and he's not talking about rattlesnakes, copperheads, spiders or whatever, scorpions.
He's talking about demonic forces. We all should know that. In other case you don't know it, I'm gonna give that to you. He said, I give you authority over serpents and scorpions and over all of the power.
Now there's that word again, it's a different Greek word, a Greek meaning of the word. It really means I give you the ability. So he said, I give you authority over serpents and scorpions and over and give you ability, I should not say, give you ability over all of the power and nothing shall be any means hurt you. Now the ability that you have in Jesus Christ, that when you open your mouth and you believe what you say, you can take authority over the powers of darkness.
But we talked about it last week. You have to know first of all, that you have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus. You see, Jesus, the Bible said that Jesus causes us to sit with him in heavenly places. And that's in Ephesians chapter two, verse six.
We have been made to sit together with Jesus in that realm of authority. The Bible tells us that. Now you have to know this in the word that Jesus gave us that privilege, not so we could twiddle our thumbs, so we could stay at home and watch TV preachers like me. But we can go to church and we can stick our authority out there and let the devil know that we are a child of the Most High God and we have been redeemed from the powers of darkness through the blood of Jesus Christ.
That's what we have to understand first of all, that we have redemption through him. Secondly, we have to know that we have been made righteous. Second Corinthians chapter five, verse 21. So the Bible said he that knew no sin was made sin, that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
So in other words, I've been made right standing with the Lord through the blood of Jesus, through his precious blood. I have right standing, you say, oh well, there's not one, righteous, no not one. Well, baby, I'll back up, that was before the cross. Well, our righteousness is filthy rags back up again.
That was before the cross. When Jesus died on the cross and when he said, it is finished, he sealed us to the day of redemption. And then he made us righteous because he that knew no sin was made sin, that we might become the righteousness of God in him. In James chapter five verse 16, the Bible said, confess your faults to one another, that you may be healed for the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
See, you've heard people say, well, you know, I don't think my prayer ever got, you know, past the season. Well, that's because you don't understand your righteousness in God. You have right standing with God through the blood of Jesus. You say, well, well, I sin this week.
Well, why don't you just join the club? You know, everybody's missed the mark. The Bible said if the Lord would mark it, Nick, which none of us could stand. But when the devil begins to hit you and attack your righteousness and say, look here, devil, come over here, snakehead, let me talk to you in just a minute.
I'm not preaching my righteousness as filthy wrecks. I'm preaching the righteousness I have in him. I'm preaching his gospel, not my gospel. I'm going to be talking about Jesus.
He's never sinned. He's never had a flaw. He's sinless in perfection. But I'm preaching about his gospel.
So see if you can box with that, snakehead. So you have to put the devil in his place. You have to know that in that day of attack that you put on the whole arm of God, the blood, the Spirit of God, the name of Jesus that you have authority to use, you have to attack that. You have to attack the rims of darkness and let them know that all of heaven is backing you up.
You have to know that, amen. So I want that to sink in real good this week as we talk about the believers' authority. Those of you that listen to me right now, if you don't know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I want to invite you right now to accept him to make him Lord of your life. If you'll do that, I promise you he'll come in.
Why don't you do it right now? Say Lord Jesus, I accept you. I accept what you did for me. You died for me.
That's what I did just for me. It calls me to sit with you in heavenly places. If I accept you, so right now I turn my back on sin. I turn my back on the powers of darkness and I turn my face to you and I make you Lord today.
If you've done that, tell somebody. Right us, let us know. We look for you next week. Tell your friends about this program.
God bless you.
