Hello everyone, I'm Pastor Donny Jester, so glad that you can tune in with us today. We're going to be here to teach a series this month on the power of your words. It's important for you and I to understand that our words carry with it a destiny. So if you have your Bibles, we're going to start at Proverbs 4.
And while you're turning there, or maybe your iPhone will have you getting there to this text, Proverbs 4, if you'd like to become a partner with this ministry, you'll see the address at the screen there in the bottom. And if you'd like to text an offering, I believe it's good ground. We'll go right to the church's bank account. It won't come to me.
You'll see that as well there. God bless you. So let's get into the Word. In Proverbs 4, verse 20, my son, attend to my words and incline that ear into my sayings.
Let them not depart from thy eyes and keep them in the midst of that heart. For they are life unto those that find them and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence. For out of it are the issues or the forces of life.
Verse 24, put away from thee a forward mouth and perverse lips. Put far from thee. Notice what he said first of all. He said, my son, a 10.
Now in the country language that we talk about in everyday life, we don't say a 10. We usually say, I've got a 10 to something. So he's actually saying, give my word first place. Ten to this first.
You know, when somebody tries to come and say, why don't you go with me here and there? Well, let me attend to this first. You always want to know that the Word of God has to be first place in our life. Then he goes on to say, as we read this, he says, I'm not going to say, I'm not going to say it.
In client, your ear unto my saying. In other words, pay attention. Begin to tune your ear in to the Word of God because the frequency or the tuning fork, me to be in a musician, the tuning fork that we need to be in tune with God is the Word of God. That's the only way you're going to stay in tune with God is getting the word because the Word of God is the tuning fork for the frequency.
Then he goes and he says here, let in verse 21, let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of your heart. We talked about that just a moment ago before we got ready to take this program. But you have to look at the Word.
It doesn't regard us to how much scripture that you can quote or I can quote. No one gets nourishment from the memory of a potato. You're going to have to eat the potato. Then he goes on and he says here that you've got only to not only to look at the Word, but you've got to not let the Word depart out of your heart.
For they are life unto those that find them in health to all their flesh, medicine to all their flesh. Then the Bible says to keep your heart with all diligence because out of your heart, out of your spirit man flows the issues of the forces of life. Then he talks about in verse 24, this is what I want you to see. Put away from the a forward mouth and perversely ups but far from the, in other words that forward mouth is a disobedient mouth because we are prone to say things that really are detrimental to us.
We live in a world-ruled planet and I should say a word rule planet. This world is ruled by words and we grew up saying things. I don't know if you grew up in a household like mine. I got a class on first-rate cussing.
I learned how to cuss when I was five years old. I grew up, you know, through my dad's and his dad's and his brother's and everybody was cussing. I grew up with that kind of a mouth on me because we are so prone to say things that are really detrimental to us. We say, you know, boy, I laugh so hard, I thought I was going to die.
Or you know, I just love that person to death. Those kids are driving me crazy. That makes me sick to my stomach. What happens is when we begin to speak things that doesn't line up with God's word, it's like a wheel turning and it continually gets stronger and stronger until it becomes such a part of our life that it leads us in a direction that we don't need to go.
So it's very important to understand, you know, Proverbs chapter 6 verse 2, the Bible said, by your words, you are snared and by your words, you're taken away. Your words are spiritual containers. They will either contain faith or they will either contain fear. You see, words were not given to us by God so we could communicate.
Words were given to us by God so that we could get in the Word of God and begin to get it into our spirit from our eye-gate and from our ear-gate and speak it out of our mouth. Words were given by God so that we could speak His Word to cause dominion to come into our lives. I remember saying years ago, I'll never be broke another day in my life and I didn't have anything and I was struggling. Now that didn't happen overnight but we have lived a much better life and I don't think God's through with us yet but I can promise you it was caused by words.
What you've got to see is beloved that this Bible is a bag of seed but a bag of seed left in the barn and not planted won't do any good. You've got to take this bag of seeds, the seed of God's Word. It's incorruptible, 1 Peter 1 verse 23. You've got to get this seed into your heart and then speak it out of your mouth.
You need to say this with me. When I say, I sow, say that one more time. When I say, I sow, so you're a so in things in the atmosphere. If you're speaking in a forward tongue or a disobedient mouth, you're saying things and releasing things in the atmosphere that could bring back destruction into your life.
So it's very important to know that we are what we teach. We are what we believe. We are what we say. The money, the gas tank is half full, not half empty.
You have to know that there are more for you than there are against you. You're not going to please everyone but all you need to please is God. And the way you please God the Bible said is through faith. You see faith in God's Word because if you start speaking fear, you can put fear on someone else.
What is fear? Fear is faith believing that what you spoke is going to happen. The thing that you feared, Job said, Job chapter 3 verse 25 that's come upon me. He said the very thing that I feared and I was thinking about that coming over this morning to the TV station.
I found out that Job through his fear, fear that his sons and daughters were sent against God and everything that he feared came upon him. He lost his family, lost his possessions, lost everything he had. The hedge that God had built around him because Job was an upright man. He allowed that hedge to come down because of the fear and that's when the devil moved in.
Before we go off there, I want to share this with you. If you're afraid, you don't need to be afraid because God's not here to hurt you. But what you need to do is give your life completely over to God because then he'll start showing you, teaching you and helping you that you can lie in your life up with a word and not by your senses, your five senses. So right where you at?
If you don't know Jesus or you've walked away from God, repentance is just saying, God, I'm turning around. I'm stopping every word that I've said that's wrong and God, I'm going to speak nothing but what your word says. Would you pray with me right now? Would you say, dear God, I place my life into your hands.
I give you my life. I come to serve you. I come to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Jesus come into my heart.
I repent. I turn my life to you. Satan, sin, I don't serve you any longer. I turn my back on you.
If right now Jesus, I accept you as the Lord of my life. And now I put away the perverse tongue. I put away the forward, the disobedient mouth, and I come to you. If you've done that, why don't you write us, why don't you call us and let us know.
We'd love to hear from you. Thank you again so much for watching and tune in next week because we're going to talk about this tongue and how it'll get you blessed or to bring you cursing. God bless you.
