Tune in LIVE Thursday at 6:00 PM Central This week I'm excited to have on the show my special guest: Jon Paul, WGA/Evans Scholarship recipient More on Jon: Jon Paul grew up in a small mountain town in Haiti. He and his siblings lived in a small house without running water or electricity. They, at times, went days without food. Despite their lack of formal schooling, his parents knew that education was a way to move past their cycle of poverty. "We were poor, but besides love, my parents made sure our education was a priority, even over eating," he said. Through volunteer work at a local church, he met a couple from Michigan and formed a friendship. Eventually, they asked him to become his sponsor parents and bring him to America. He came to Michigan in 2016 and, through a recommendation from his sponsor mom, began caddying at Country Club of Detroit. After learning the game of golf and becoming a top requested caddie, he earned the Evans Scholarship to Michigan State, where he is now a junior. He wants to go into aerospace or engineering.
