Hallochristmas

from Billified: The Bill Moran Podcast · host Bill Moran

Hallochristmas Bill, Dan and Comedian Doug Phelps celebrating Halloween together! Doug has his Elvis glasses on, Doug’s Dad is an Elvis impersonator! Doug recalls going to Vegas to see a Wayne Newton show with his parents. Bill shares Halloween memories from childhood, egging, being jumped for his candy and trick or treating with his kids. Danny even egged in his small town. Bill says there were consequences back then and that people who were the victims of snowballs or eggs would make you tell your parents or called the police. It is the broken window theory, that visible signs of crime and civil disorder create an environment that encourages further crime and disorder, which seems to be happening today with some people as young as 12 being picked up for stealing cars eight different times! Bill plays Ray Parker Jr.’s hit Ghost Busters and Doug says he got sued because the song “stole” from Huey Lewis and The News I want a new drug. Bill and Dan had never heard that, so Bill plays both songs at the same time and you be the judge as to how similar the songs are. Bill starts to talk about fighting music copyright laws and that usually the music is never played only the sheet music is submitted. This leads to talk of reviving an old radio bit, what you doing at the courthouse. Doug talks about picking people up with Uber after they have been in court and it is easy to tell how their day is going. The conversation turns to people not working or showing up to interviews for work. Bill says he has long believed that if you show effort people will meet you half way and that one of the most important things you can have in life is a “motor.” The guys also say that you can learn skills via youtube. The NFL trade dead line has passed, but not before the Buffalo Bills traded the Green Bay Packers a 2024 third round pick for veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas, who already has one interception and six pass breakups this season for the Packers. Bill was surprised the Commanders let pass rusher Chase Young go to Doug’s favorite team the 49ers for a third round pick! Are we fooling ourselves with electric cars? Danny believes so, Bill has driven them, is impressed but questions the practicality and environmental benefit. Bill remembers one of his favorite childhood Halloween costumes his Dad made him and why he stopped wearing it! Bill recalls a family he grew up with and some of the bizarre things that went on, including the Dad getting drunk and insisting it was Christmas several days before Christmas and MORE!
