Halifax's Black Rock Beach is home to many dog walkers, bike riders, and picnic enthusiasts, but the site's history is far darker then those casually strolling through may realize. A rock outcropping on Black Rock Beach was the site of one of Halifax's public gallows. Not only were many executed on the site, but their lifeless bodies were left hanging to serve as warning to incoming sailors.
