Have No Fellowship with Darkness; Redeem the Time

Today's epistle challenges us in many ways, from warning us that the ways of darkness are the ways of death to a rousing admonition to awaken and walk in the like of Christ "redeeming the time." In today's homily, Abp. Irineos looks to the commentary of the fathers to explain this passage and to remind us that the being called into the light is the end of all self-examination and rebuke. Thus, our grieving for our own sins should never be a cause of despair, but rather the beginning of hope and a the chance to redeem the time we are given, not matter how much we have wasted in the past.
