Born and raised in Drogheda, County Louth, she previously served on Louth County Council from 2016 to 2024. In January 2025, Joanna was appointed to Sinn Féin's front bench as spokesperson on Arts, Sport, Communications, Culture, and Media. She is also the chairperson of Drogheda United F.C. and was elected to the FAI's National League Committee in 2023, becoming the first female chairperson in the League of Ireland.Joanna was a pleasure to chat with and we talked about a range of different things going on in the world and the world of politics at the moment.
