Hayom Yom 10 Tammuz - The superiority of souls over angels as G-d's agents

רַבֵּנוּ הַזָּקֵן בִּתְחִלַּת נְשִׂיאוּתוֹ אָמַר תּוֹרָהSoon after he undertook the leadership of the chassidic community, the Alter Rebbe delivered the following teaching:מֵה' מִצְעֲדֵי גֶבֶר כּוֹנָנוּ[It is written:] “A man’s steps are made firm by G‑d.”אַז אַ אִיד קוּמט אִין אַ אָרטWhen a Jew arrives at a particular place,אִיז עֶס צוּלִיבּ אַ כַּוָּנָה טאָן אַ מִצְוָהthis is for the purpose of doing a mitzvah —הֵן אַ מִצְוָה שֶׁבֵּין אָדָם לַמָּקוֹםbe it a mitzvah between man and G‑d,וְהֵן אַ מִצְוָה שֶׁבֵּין אָדָם לַחֲבֵרוֹor between man and man.אַ אִיד אִיז אַ שָׁלִיחַ שֶׁל מַעְלָהA Jew is an agent of [G‑d] Above,אַ שָׁלִיחַ וואוּ עֶר אִיז, אִיז עֶר דעֶר כֹּחַ הַמְשַׁלֵּחַand wherever an agent is, he derives his power from the Sender.דעֶר יִתְרוֹן הַמַּעֲלָה אִין נְשָׁמוֹת לְגַבֵּי מַלְאָכִיםThe superiority of souls over angelsוואָס בּאַ נְשָׁמוֹת אִיז דאָס עַל פִּי הַתּוֹרָה[in this regard] lies in the fact that [G‑d confers His agency to] the souls through the Torah.Text and Translation courtesy of Sichos in EnglishFor questions and follow-up: [email protected]
