Hayom Yom 13 Kislev - The essence of the soul is the essence of G-d

אָמַר אַאַמוּ"רMy father, the Rebbe [Rashab], once said: חֲסִידוּת מְשַׁנָּה אֶת הַמְּצִיאוּת וּמְגַלָּה אֶת הַמַּהוּתChassidus transforms one’s existence, and reveals one’s essence.וְהַמַּהוּת שֶׁל הָאִישׁ הַיִשְׂרְאֵלִי אֵין לְהַעֲרִיךְ וּלְשַׁעֵרThe inner nature of a Jew can be neither appreciated nor fathomed, כִּי הוּא חֵלֶק מִן הָעֶצֶםfor it is part of [G‑d’s] Essence,וְהַתּוֹפֵס בְּמִקְצָתוֹ כְּאִלּוּ תּוֹפֵס בְּכוּלּוֹand when one grasps part of the Essence, it is as if one has grasped it in its entirety. וּכְשֵׁם שֶׁהָעֶצֶם אֵין לוֹ שִׁעוּר כַּךְ הַחֵלֶק אֵין לוֹ שִׁעוּרJust as [G‑d’s] Essence has no limits, so too, this “part” has no limits. עַל דֶרֶךְ הַכָּנָף מִין כָּנָףIt is like tzitzis, which must be made of the same material as the corner of the garment [to which they are attached].עֶס אִיז מעֶהר נִיט וואָס עַצְמוּת האָט בּוֹרֵא געֶוועֶן אַ נְשָׁמָה אַז זִי זאָל זַיין אַ נִבְרָאIt is only that G‑d’s essence created the soul as a created being — וַחֲסִידוּת מְגַלָּה אֶת הַמַּהוּתand Chassidus reveals its inner nature.Text and Translation courtesy of Sichos in English
