Hayom Yom 2 Adar Sheini - A blessing needs an object to take hold

הַבְּרָכָה צְרִיכָה לְאֵיזֶה דָבָר שֶׁתֵּאָחֵז בּוֹA blessing requires some object upon which to take hold, וּכְמוֹ הַמָּטָר עַל שָׂדֶה חֲרוּשָׁה וּזְרוּעָהlike rain that falls upon a plowed and sown field, אוֹ הַיּוֹרֶה וּמַלְקוֹשׁ עַל תְּבוּאַת הַשָּׂדֶה וְהַכֶּרֶםor like the early and late rains that fall upon the produce of the field or vineyard. אֲבָל בִּשְׂדֵה בּוּר לֹא חֲרוּשָׁה וְלֹא זְרוּעָהBut if a field is left fallow, neither plowed nor sown, אֵין הַמָּטָר יוֹרֶה וּמַלְקוֹשׁ מְבִיאִים תּוֹעֶלֶתthe early and late rains will not be of any benefit.Text and Translation courtesy of Sichos in English
