Hayom Yom 4 Menachem Av - One cannot earn one cent more than G‑d ordained

מִיט דעֶר גרעֶסטעֶר האָרעֶוואַניעֶEven with the greatest toil, קעֶן מעֶן נִיט פאַרדִינעֶן קֵיין אֵיין סעֶנטone cannot earn one cent מעֶהר וִויפְיל הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרֵךְ האָט אָפְּגעֶשׁטעֶלט, אַז דעֶר אוּן דעֶר מעֶנשׁ זאָל פאַרדִינעֶןmore than G‑d has ordained for him.מעֶן בּעֶדאַרף טאָן וִויפְיל עֶס אִיז נוֹיטִיגWe must do what is necessary, אָבּעֶר מעֶן מוּז געֶדֵיינקעֶןbut we have to remember אַז דִי גאַנצעֶ אַרבּעֶט, אִיז מעֶר נִיט וִוי אַ טָפֵלthat all our labors are only of secondary importance. דעֶר עִקָּר אִיז דִי בְּרָכָה פוּן הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרֵךְWhat counts is G‑d’s blessing, אוּן דִי בְּרָכָה פאַרדִינט מעֶן וועֶן מעֶן אִיז אַ עֶרליכעֶר אִידand this is earned by acting in a way appropriate for a Jew: תְּפִלָּה בְּצִבּוּרpraying with the congregation, שְׁמִירַת שַׁבָּת בְּהִדּוּרobserving Shabbos with loving punctiliousness, כַּשְׁרוּת בְּהַשְׁגָחָה גְּדוֹלָהkeeping kosher vigilantly, חִנּוּךְ הַבָּנִים בּאַ מְלַמְּדִים עֶרלִיכעֶ אִידעֶןand having one’s children educated by teachers who are G‑d-fearing.Text and Translation courtesy of Sichos in EnglishFor questions and follow-up: [email protected]
