He Came to Himself

On the Sunday of the Prodigal Son, Abp. Irineos reminds the faithful that when we willingly separate ourselves from the Father, we are no longer living a truly human life. We are outside the life God has created for us, and living like the irrational beasts of the field and not the noble son of the Father. In the parable of the Prodigal Son, the Church prepares us for Great Lent with examples of repentance and forgiveness. Let us also come to ourselves, confessing our sins, rejecting the deplorable ways that separate us from God, and with true repentance, receive the forgiveness of the Father who desires us to live forever.
