She began volunteering with Geauga Mamas in January 2019 as a foster. She quickly became a transporter and actively involved in getting puppies adopted. Recently, this year, she became a board member. Geauga Mama Dogs and Pups was started 12 years ago by Karen Braun, out of her barn, helping local rescues care for pregnant moms, moms with litters and abandoned litters. We have approximately 300 members that volunteer in various ways. Our group consists of many women, and some husbands, that foster, welp puppies, feed bottle babies, transport, marketing, bookkeeping, etc. The group has grown in the past years in number of volunteers, number of mamas and pups rescued, and area of shelters, APLs and Humane societies we help and that help us across Ohio and into W. VA and KY. They rely strictly on donations. This year we have a Bookkeeper who contacted us to help us with grant writing. Hopefully that will yield much needed funds for food, vet bills, and medications.
