Heatwave Records @ Skylab Radio 003 - Bloemendaal Morning Chillout Set

Back again with another chillout mix for Skylab Radio, this time by Heatwave Records. "As a kid of the 90s I grew up on my parents' record collection, MTV, and Napster and Limewire. My folks taught me about the classics, MTV introduced me to hiphop, and internet allowed me to dive deeper. First stop was downtempo and triphop - which were thriving back then. Ninja Tune and beyond. Deep grooves, chilled hiphop beats and breakbeats, jazzy or funky overtones, trippy undertones, gritty to classy vibes... I was thrilled to discover these unfolding genres, bringing together elements of nearly all my favorite music styles back then, cooking them up into something entirely new and progressive - and, as it felt, futuristic. So having submitted here so far a couple of dance sets for Deep Science Radio, it's time I lower the BPMs and make my appearance on Skylab. First of many more. As a DJ I'm hugely inspired by the Balearic sound and its musical ethos of eclecticism, sunshine, emotion and pleasure. Especially in my lower tempo sets this influence might be heard. Expect a broad range of electronic sounds, suitable for any chilled out morning, afternoon or evening. Also, take note of the second and third track: from '82 and '79, respectively - and still sounding fresh, timeless and beautiful.
