Hegseth Refused to Send Medical Supplies. Six Americans Died.

On March 1st, an Iranian drone smashed through the tin roof of a U.S. Army forward operating base in Kuwait, killing six American service members and wounding twenty more. Yesterday, CBS News reported that eight survivors of the strike have gone on the record to say that their unit had spent two weeks before the attack begging Pentagon leadership for more medical supplies, more medics, mass casualty rehearsals, and more drone defense. They were told, on the record, “Don’t worry about protection.”Master Sergeant Nicole Amor of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, was alive when soldiers pulled her out of the rubble. She was transported in a civilian van to a Kuwaiti hospital because there weren’t enough U.S. military ambulances on site. The medic riding with her did not have the supplies he needed to keep her airway open. She died in the van. Major Stephen Ramsbottom, a career soldier and one of the survivors, told CBS that if there had been a doctor, an aid station, or more than one ambulance, Amor would still be alive.Master Sergeant Ann Marie Carrier, another survivor, told CBS the unit had never done a single mass casualty rehearsal before the war began. U.S. intelligence had warned in January that Iran would target the base. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth went on television the day after the attack and described the drone as a “squirter” that snuck past fortified defenses. There were no fortified defenses.
