Helium Boys: USC survives heat, defeats SJSU, Fresno State arrives and rivalries

The Helium Boys, Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino, are back for the first game-week recap episode of the 2026 season, and they're back in the thick of it as all the staples of the Helium Boys Podcast are in full effect with the Two-Minute Drill, stocks, upcoming game preview, answering listener questions, take it or leave its and Chris forcing Shotgun to do a blind ranking against his will. The podcasting duo open with the Two-Minute Drill where Chris discusses the abhorrence of an event that took place at the Coliseum in the season opener while Shotgun scattershots across a variety of topics that have been national discussions from USC's 42-26 win over San Jose State. The boys of Helium jump into prior comments and corrections before breaking down the Trojans' victory and which players/units/themes saw their stock rise or fall. They also preview the upcoming Friday night matchup with Fresno State. After a break, Shotgun takes on Trevino's Take It or Leave It segment before the show concludes with an Overtime period of blind ranking rivalries that range from sports to cities to cartoon characters.
