Porte Bagage vertelt een aangrijpend en universeel verhaal van verlies en de onuitgesproken en vaak ingewikkelde emoties binnen een familie. Wanneer mantelzorger Noor haar droombaan als chef-kok in Parijs krijgt aangeboden, kan zij niet langer zorgen voor haar vader Musa, die aan dementie lijdt. Als oplossing helpt zij hem te emigreren naar Marokko, wat op weerstand stuit bij de rest van de familie. Porte Bagage is de eerste speelfilm van productiehuis Zouka (opgericht door broer en zus Abdelkarim en Asma El-Fassi), dat eerder grote successen had met de documentaires Mijn vader de expat en Toen ma naar Mars vertrok.
