Annemieke Bosman in gesprek met Alma Mustafić & Marjolein Koster, makers van het multimediale project De 11 stemmen van Srebrenica. Hoe leef je verder met een oorlogsverleden, in een maatschappij die jouw verhaal niet kent, niet begrijpt of misschien zelfs niet wil zien? En wat kunnen we van deze mensen leren als we naar hen luisteren? Via de podcast De 11 stemmen van Srebrenica en de bijbehorende tentoonstellingen in FOTODOK Utrecht en Nationaal Monument Kamp Vught krijgen deze verhalen een blijvende plek in de Nederlandse geschiedenis en wordt het bestaande beeld verdiept en verbreed. Op 11 juli 1995 neemt het Bosnisch-Servische leger de stad Srebrenica in, na een langdurige belegering. De VN roept Srebrenica uit tot een ‘safe area’, maar die bescherming faalt en de troepen van generaal Ratko Mladic vermoorden ten minste 8372 mensen, voornamelijk mannen en jongens. De genocide in Srebrenica is de grootste oorlogsmisdaad die sinds de Tweede Wereldoorlog in Europa plaatsvond. De 11 stemmen van Srebrenica wil hun stemmen laten horen en versterken. Het fundament van dit multimediale project bestaat uit een elfdelige podcast-serie, gemaakt door genocide-expert en overlevende Alma Mustafić en journalist en Balkanexpert Marjolein Koster, waarin Bosnische Nederlanders hun persoonlijke verhaal vertellen.
